There are many reasons why many screen printers haven't switched, me included. Dark shirts are an issue, production rates are extremely slow, high price for
dtg printer, high ink price, techinical problems, maintenance problems. You could spend days reading all the past threads just on this board to see some of the crazy things people have done to get their machines to print. There are obvious perks for
dtg, just read the sales pitches. They fill a small niche and unless you have enough small run, very colorful prints lined up, then you'll have a paper weight on your hands. I know they have enhanced many screen printers businesses and I'm not saying they can't, I'm just saying they don't deliver the sales person's promises for the majority of the people that buy them. And
dtg sure as hell won't replace screen printing anytime soon, like some might have you believe.
