Default What Mesh Size With Waterbased inks?

Hi Guys,

What mesh size (UK) does everyone reccomend for printing onto Tshirts?

Mostly Black ink on white tshirts, using waterbased ink.

Thanks

Adam

Which brand ink? Generally 156 (not sure what the equivalent is in UK). But thicker inks may need a larger mesh opening.

I use Matsui 301 RC WB inks and I use at least 195. I have used 156 effectively with Matsui, but I do not use a flood stroke on the 156 or I get too much dot gain and ink spread. Their HO inks should be used with 156.

I got this from some article I read, just to give some insights.

• 86 threads/in. for metallics and some special-effect inks

• 125 threads/in. for underbases and high-opacity prints

• 230 threads/in. for overprints and light-colored garments

• 305 threads/in. for fine halftones and photographic reproduction

This is intresting, as ive had a few different responses.

A Screen supplier reccomended 43T (110) and so did a

screenprinting tutor. But everyone I have asked

elsewhere reccomends something like a 156 (US) .

im confused!

The ink im using is from wickedprinting (UK company) im

not 100% sure who they get it off. Anyone know?

I would contact Wicked Printing and ask what their recommendations for printing that ink is. I don't see on their website what the brand is and the product photo doesn't help. The directions should be on the ink packages somewhere - or at least the manufacturer's name.

It turns out they mix the ink themselves using a pigment.

So what do you guys reckon?

Go with a 156 (us size)?

thanks again,

thanks again,

They mix it themselves and they're unable to give you recommendations on mesh count? I would buy from someone else that can give you information on their products.

But until then, I'd start testing with 156 and switch to a different mesh based on the results.
