Smile Which Pantone resource?

My printer wants me to spec the pantone color for ink, suggesting I purchase a pantone book. Looking on ebay I found quite of a few options - Pantone Formula Guide, Pantone Color Bridge, either coated or uncoated. Can someone keep me from making a mistake here? Thanks. Finally ready to get started and seems there is always just one more thing...

Get the PANTONE Formula Guide, with Coated and Uncoated Colors. You can PANTONE mix both the coated and uncoated colors. They are slightly different, and I've had customers ask for one over the other. This is the most standardized way to do it. When you buy a Wilflex Mixing kit, it includes a binder with a giant list of all the current (which is almost all of them, including some of the metallic PANTONE colors) colors and how to mix them using your kit. The numbers go 300C (coated) or 300U (uncoated).

If you're going to get into mixing colors, I'd recommend the Wilflex MX Kit. If you want Pthalate Free, get the Wilflex Epic Kit. Mind you the price difference between the two will be significant, but the colors and mixing is the same. They come in quart and gallon kits, and you can re-buy the colors you use most in quarts, gallons, and 5 gallons if necessary.

Hope that helps you out.

Thanks for the clarification. I do not expect to be mixing colors myself, hoping my printer is going to do that. He just wants me to tell him exactly what colors I want on my shirts. I appreciate your help and will see if I can win a bid at a reasonable price.
