Default Lesson about buying used old equipment

When buying used equipment, MAKE SURE the parts are still manufactured.

I have an old second hand exposure unit that works real well, however one of the bulbs is dying. I called 10 places nationwide and even the manufacturer and they cannot find the bulbs! Wait, I did find one place that carried them for $58 a bulb and a minimum of 12 bulbs. That's 3X more then the freakin unit itself!

I might be in the market for a new unit or maybe I'll make one. But lesson learned, buying old equipment isn't always the best idea.

PS. If anyone knows where I can find a unfiltered blacklight F24T12 BL HO, please pm me.

I know a place that requires a minimum of 12 purchase also but price is good. Like about $22 each from this place called bulbtronics. gl

I assume HO means High output. I can find them in 20 watts but no HO.

Thanks, I found that company earlier so I applied for a wholesale account which they require so I have to wait for an approval. Hopefully they approve me. One thing that's strange is that all the bulbs I am finding are all 24" in length. Mine are 22" in length.

I called one company and they said it's catagorized as a 24" bulb, but it's really 22". lol I guess I won't know until I get approved, spend $264 (probably $300 with shipping) and try them.

Yeah that's what it stands for. It needs the HO prongs I believe which has that plastic oval casing.

Thanks, I gave them an email to see if they had mine. I'll also give them a call on Monday.

The maufacturer said that the part number F24 means it's 24 watts, is that true? Whenever I find the bulb it says varying watts, some websites say it uses 40 watts, others say 20 watts.
