Default Exposure Time differences

Hey All,
I am considering moving away from our Avantra Image Setter and towards an Epson Ink Jet. One of the issues that my superiors have brought up is exposure time when shooting our screens. Is there anyone else here who has had to deal with a similar situation? I believe that the Ink we would be using gets pretty dense, but not as dense as the Avantra.

Default Re: Exposure Time differences

There isn't mcuh of a difference in exposure times. The important thing is the background density of the polyester and since both films have low Dmin there should be no difference in exposure time. The density of the ink is only important if it is burning through, A Dmax of 2.5 (~laserfilm) is marginal but anything above 3 is fine, Dmins of 4+ are achieved with Epson ink.
Dmin of 2 stops 90% of light, 3 - 99%, 4 - 99.9% etc. Logarithmic scale.
