Default football number printing

I have an aooportunity to print sweat shirts for a local high school football team.

They want individual player numbers inside a football clip art. Numbers can either be show through or printed-but the numbers are obviously different on every sweat shirt.

How can I screenprint this? Do you use a stencil to create the show through on every print? Can these be bought or should I cut them on the plotter?

We have the opportunity to outsource it if needed-but would rather do it in house if we do not have to burn an individual screen for each one.

I would leave the number blank and use cut vinyl for the number

I thought about that-but it is not what they are looking for.

They buy the same thing now from another screenprinter-which happens to be the shop that outsource to on occasion. They charge us an additional $3 to individual number things like this when it is a show through or printed number inside the sport ball, etc.

I am thinking this must be easier than exposing a new screen for each print.

I wonder if a paper template like the paper stencils that are available for numbers would work if I printed the top and bottom text first so that I would know where to put the stencil on the garment.

Perhaps a print/flash then put the stencil down.

I just figured someone out there has done this and it might be easier than I am making it.

Another option would be to print all the items with a blank area for the number. Then burn 1 screen with the numbers and print on to transfer paper. Then press the correct number in place.

Numberalls used to have a cool system where you could order footballs to be heat pressed with numbers in the middle. Here is the link:

Stock Football Heat Transfers

At one time, there were more options - different colors for the inset numbers, bulk team purchasing, etc, - but this may be exactly what you are looking for.
