Default What is the best mesh for smaller lettering on t shirts

I'm about to print an order and I'm curious to which mesh screen I should use for small lettering on the front breast of the shirt.?

For real small lettering I usually use anywhere from 175-200 mesh. Depends on how small the lettering and the thickness of the font you are using. I have used 150 mesh for thicker fonts and it worked as well.

Hi again, Nietzsche

Bill's right that the font size dictates some of the choice.

Finest detail type (8-10pt.) prints really well on a 255 mesh.
It normally comes in a 40m thread which is the same as a 305, but with 50 fewer threads allowing for ink deposit like a 200-230.

155-200 works well for 10-12pt (and larger) but it helps to use dyed mesh (yellow) in those counts for the least amount of undercutting of serif or script typefaces.

Note that hi-res emulsions and 1:1 screen coatings also permit finer details.

Bill, if you're ever in Tempe, drop by the store, and tell them the Screen Outlaw promised you a 255 for testing and report.
