Question Nubee. How to get LOTS of ink out of screen

Hi there i'm brand new at this and have just made a very novice mistake.

Because i was using a very small, high detail image that would be located on the left breast area of the tee, i only put emulsion on the top half of the screen (156). Then i taped the back off so that no ink would come thru. I now know the error of my ways. Of course the ink will come thru, but will build up behind my tape.

Anyways, i have used a soy based cleaner to begin with to get the high spots, then moved onto a de-greaser product. After alot of scrubbing, i still have quite a bit if ink still trapped in the screen. Can i use a bristled scrub brush or would this hurt the screen?

Would my best bet be go to the car wash and use a pressure washer, or more scrubbing, or a different product?

And to top it all off, its a brand new screen.

Any help would be appreciated

I just came home from the car wash to use their pressure washer! It does make a huge difference. I would have said to clean up as much ink as possible with dry towels and screen opener while still on the press, but it sounds like you've already moved on to the scrubbing stage. The degreaser isn't really the best for removing ink. You need an actual ink remover, then the last step would be a haze remover. Pressure is a big help though. Good luck.

the car wash works great, but if you have the extra cash, the $69.95 pressure washer from home depot wroks great too.

For sure, that's true--it's a good investment. But if your in a pinch and don't have the dough, you gotta find a quick fix.

Ok cool

Would this be a good ink remover, Franmaar color change on press ink remover. And do you just spray it on and scrub and spray out with this product?

That would be a good place to start--I think you just wipe it clean with a damp cloth rather than spraying it out though, since it's meant to be used to prepare a screen for a new color.

U got to get a preasure washer mate i rate it very high as a must have tool in screen printing, It makes the job much more easy also its grate for getting the image out a burned screen.

Get a second hand one off ebay u won't regret it ( unless it does not work lol )

I use screen cleaner from wicked print, dry cloth wipe of excess quick blast set low preasure on jet wash done

Be careful using a pressure washer from the car wash. Its great in a pinch to remove locked in emulsion. But if you are using pre-stretched screens, continued use of a pressure that high will cause you to lose tension faster than you normally would. This will definitely shorten the life span of that screen.
