hi everyone, im trying photo emulsion for the first time and have a few questions. ive seen tutorials on utube and done my research but need a little Q and A time.
im looking at either Murakami Aquasol Emulsion or Fotec 1636. For water-based inks. has any one used these? wich is the best one. at the moment im leaning toward the murakami.
ive read the instructions on their website, but am a little unsure on exposure time. it recomends a 1000w light. however i was hoping to use a 500w light. does this just mean longer exposure time? i plan to do some experimenting, but would like to know in advance so i dont wast my money.
im looking at using a 500w halogen flood light. will this be ok. ive read that people use them. are they as good as a light box, sun etc.
finally and probably the most stupid of my questions. once ive exposed my screen, do i still need to keep it out of uv light? i know i cant print in the dark but do i need to keep it in any certain lighting.
if any one can help that would be great. i live in australia and cant find alot of the brands that you have in the US.
cheers sarah

I have never used that emulsion so I cant say if its any good or not..but for exposure times im sure the time will be longer for a 500w compared to a 1000w light.
after the screen is exposed you need to keep it out of any uv light until you wash it out...once washed out , it can be exposed to any light.
Regarding emuslion choices; if you're considering Murakami, their Photocure Blu (premixed)
exposes better than their Aquasol HV and TS when using low wattage exposure lamps.
(and you can optionally choose to add Diazo sensitizer if needing increased resistance to water-based inks).
They also provide N/C step-wedge exposure calculators through many distributors.
