Re: Can someone tell me what I did wrong? I can tell you this...
We would NEVER use a 200 mesh underbase on something that has no halftone. Unless I am seeing this wrong.
1. We would use a 110 mesh underbase and a 110 mesh for the second color. Let's think of this simply for a second. Why use such a high mesh count on hoodies? As if it is not hard enough to print white ink on any mesh, think about how much harder it is to get the ink through on anything higher than a 110.
2. The second mistake is that you are allowing your first hit to be a poor hit. Meaning the ink is not clear of the screen and evenly laid out on the sweatshirt and you have left fibers sticking up where the ink has not been cleared. So then you flash dry that hit and hit it again, it still looks horrible. That is because you CANNOT clean up a bad first hit. Your first hit must look perfect and smooth.
Every company has their own methods of printing and I am sure many companies would disagree with using 110 mesh at all in any image. But why push your life away trying to get ink through a screen that it was not meant to go through. White ink will go through any screen, I understand this, but unless it has a halftone, it should not be on such a high mesh count.
Try what I've told you here.
1. Use 110 mesh.
2. Make sure your first hit (Whether it's 2, 3 or 4 pull backs, make sure that when you lift that screen, your ink has gone through it everywhere it was supposed to)
That's it. And if it did have halftone in the image, use a 156 mesh, and go to step 2 and that is all it takes.
