Default Glow in the dark black

Hello all,
I have a question. I want to print a design in glow in the dark ink onto a black garment. I don't want the design to be visible when not glowing (i.e. I don't want the off-green colour).

Would printing with a mix of black ink and the glow additive work at all?

Thanks in advance,
Rob

No. Phosphorescent inks don't play well when mixed with anything. Occasionally you can slightly tint them with Yellow, orange, green, sometimes magenta or any other really thin ink, but generally, the more 'colored' the phospho ink is, the less it glows. Mixing with black to get it to look black on a black shirt would ruin whatever glow properties it had. Printing straight to a black shirt with no underbase doesn't work very well either. I don't know how you'd get a bright glowing image that doesn't show in daylight.

Depending on your printing technique, you can mask the glow in the dark print to not be very visible in daylight. But you cannot really pigment the ink, this kills the phosphorescent ability.

Best thing is to manipulate the artwork so people aren't noticing the glow in the dark ink.

Using waterbase glow in the dark does hide better than plastisol.

Good luck
