hello every one im new to the screen printing and i was wondering what should i buy in printer wise to do my art i see that epson has a nice printer i think its the 1400 do i have to get spetial ink,or do i just pute black in all the places of the colors.
I have been using an Epson 1400 for a while now. I purchased a CISS (continuous ink supply system) with pigment ink. I use the pigment ink because it works better on inkjet transfers and does a good job on film. You cannot change the color cartridges to black unless you refill them. You will probably want to keep the colors for printing color proofs for your customers. The Epson cartridges are very expensive. I got the CISS off e-bay for less than $60.00 and it will save a bunch of money. The 1400 is probably the lowest price printer you will find that will print up to 13 x 19.Good luck and God Bless.
when buying printers always keep in mind which companies offer good customer service. You always run into problems. The first printer i had, when i went to customer service they would just try and sell me the new model instead of fixing my problem. Then I got an epson and they have good customer service. Also check out the cost of inks for different printers.

There is an older model Epson, the 3000 which is still widely used by professional screen printers. A refurbished 3000 with warranty can be had for ~$500. These printers are very simple, easy to use and quite reliable. They are capable of printing 17" x 22" transpariencies, look for Dmax film from wildsidenorth.com. Large capacity non-proprietary black ink cartridges can be had for ~$20. Ink2image - Lyson photographic and Fine Art Inkjet products
