Discuss the different types of equipment needed for screen printing. Topics include manual screen printing presses, automatic presses, dryers, folding machines, starter kits and high end machines.
can anyone post real pictures of there press or even a movie of them doing a print on the silver press four color one station.
Ive seen all the videos on youtube but i want to see someones own machine in use.
because i have read alot of people talking about how there press doesn't line up right.
yet this guy has the old magnet press and does really cool prints
The press is cool, but more than anything I like the large clean workspace.
haha haha!!!!
that was when I first started iin screen printing...you should see my garage now...boxes everywhere...drying racks, exposure unite, inks and screens all over the place...I have to move 3 things to get to 1 ..... I really need to get it back to when I first began.
if you setup the films correctly in pre press then the process of registering the screens together isnt hard.....the press holds registration very well also.

I think taking the time to set the screens up correct solves nearly every issue at press time. I learned the hard way and a four color job ended up being six screens and an extra hour just to setup. Had I taken five extra mins during burning I could have saved all that.
I agree ...my first 4 color job took me over an hour to register..I learned from my mistake and made a pin register on my light table....its a clear acytate with a grid on it...there is a grid for left chest , center chest and ruler marks on the vertical and horizontal...so every screen is in the same spot when burning..... before I would put a shirt on the platen then put my first film on the shirt where I wanted the image to be ..then put a screen on and tape the film to the screen...then measure from the top and left then every other screen I would use the measurments to place the film.....the problem with that is , if you dont measure the same EXACT way each time, then the registration process wont work well.
now it takes maybe 10 minutes to register a 4 color job.
I dont have a movie of me printing on my press but here are a few pics of my new 4c/2s silver.....not the magnet one.

Nice CLEAN shop Inked! I notice you have the Ryonet 500 Watt halogen Exposure unit. I have that unit as well and have been going through bulbs like crazy lately. Do you have this same problem with your unit? My bulbs have been going out almost every 2 times I expose, I have no Idea why. Thanks!
no...I havent replaced the bulb in it yet...I've been using the same bulb it came with for 8 months.......I just finished another exposure light box..so I dont think I will be using the halogen anymore .
Nice posts guys! I use the same 4 color Silver press and love it, although I've only needed it for 1-color jobs.
I'm going to be doing my first multi-color job next week and was wondering how you would recommend lining the flim up when I don't have a light table or plotter? I was planning on using my T-square and measuring the same distance for the side and top edges, and of course burning registration marks too. Will that be enough?

thats exactly what I used to do......it works ok but you need to measure exactly for each screen.also every screen isnt the same exact measurement..so theres no way to measure each screen and get the film in the exact same spot on each screen..so you will be close but not as close as a pin register sheet...but will work
what I would do is make a jig that fits on the shirt platen and have a grid on it....and place each film on the same spot (1 at a time) .
then load the screens on the press...then place a film on the jig and tape it to the screen , then place the next film on the jig and tape to another screen....do that to all the screens and films...that way you know that each film is in the same exact place on each screen no matter if the screens are a little different in size.

I use a little bracket I made from paint sticks. It puts the art work in the exact same spot on the screen when I burn. Then just use the art on the platen to line all the mounted screens up. I do not even use registration marks anymore.
