Default Problem with building a platen

I want to put tape washers under my screens so I have a good off contact, but I only have 23x31 screens. So at least the width of my platen has to be 22 inches so the screen can lay on the screen with the taped washers, but I want to print on s-xl tshirts, and the small has a width of 18 inches and medium has a 2o inch, so the shirts probably won't fit on the platen. Does anybody have any suggestions, or have dealt with this issue?

Instead of using the washer on the sides try the end closest to you.

Tape a paint mixing stick to the end closest to you so it rests on the platen. It has worked for me in the past.

As the others said put it on the end closest to you. Hopefully you made a platen with a neck for it to rest on.

Get smaller screens.
