Exclamation Can I double up glass over top of the screen?

alright this is my first post as i am just getting started in my screen printing adventure....but i am starting out with the typical 500w halogen and pvc pipe set up exposure stand and have two questions. can i double up the glass i set on top of the image to make it heavier against the screen? or would that cause some kind of reflection problems in exposing? the reason i ask is that the local home depot only has 1/8" glass and i didnt think one piece would be very heavy resting on the screen. the second question is would a 12x15" piece of glass be big enough to cover most prints i would be doing on a 20x24" screen? or should i go a bit larger?

When I used the set up your are using I used 1/8th" glass and it worked fine. You should not have to double up.
Whether or not the 12"x15" piece of glass will be sufficient depends on you. If you keep your designs smaller than that then yes, if your designs are larger then no.

In the past I have used smaller pieces of glass and the edge(s) of the glass has cast a shadow which would blow out of the emulsion when cleaning the stencil. I would just tape the line out where the shadow was. Its an easy fix but I would suggest getting a full size piece of glass.

I used a piece of glass slightly smaller than the inside of the frame (so it didn't sit on any epoxy buildup on the frame) and then put a larger piece over the top for weight. It worked great, but as noted earlier, the emulsion will expose around the edges of the glass, just tape over em.
Grind the edges of the glass down slightly, so they arent digging into your mesh.
