I just recently bought cap film from Printa and I was wondering if it's old. I've gone through 7 sheets of film trying to expose artwork. When I rinse, the exposed area does wash out but the film gets really flimsy and just washes away. I'm not really rinsing that long, maybe a minute. I've washed screens for far longer time and the film (Printa's) has held up. I've exposed for 2 minutes (which has been my usual time), 1.5 minutes but I get the same results.
Does anyone use Printa and have had this problem before? This may sound silly/useless info but the film is red and in the past, when I've exposed a screen, the film is bright red. The recently bought film has a darker red shade, almost burgundy color, maybe that's a clue to something or maybe not.
I have a deadline coming up and I can't spend my time watching all my film go down the drain.
Yes, I'm having the same issue. I have also bought cap film from Printa and I'm getting the same results. I'm new to screen printing, so perhaps I'm doing something wrong. I have also tried different exposure times. I have been through a few sheet of film and a lot of time. Does anyone have any suggestions?
I actually found out that Printa changed their film vendor. Top10deal, you probably got an e-mail from them. If you have the exposure unit that has the black light bulbs, they told me it would take around 20 seconds, but if you have the "old" unit (my exposure unit takes 6 bulbs, which adds up to 100 watts), the exposure is going to take 10 minutes. Ten minutes does actually work but it's kind of a pain because I've done a couple of 4 colored jobs, so that's 40 minutes just exposing.
I would call Printa, and they'll ask you 20 Q's, just to make sure you get the correct exposre time.
I had tried different exposure times with that film, but it didn't help. I have since tried a different pack of capillary film from Printa and I don't have this problem. Thanks for the input.
