Default What Platten to use??

I need to print a couple hundred t shirts with pockets, what the best way platten or attachment to print above the pocket?
In the past i've used a sleeve platten and just line the edge of the pocket on the end of the platten but I seem to get some distorted prints doing it the way..

I used to use a piece of the backing like in a picture frame, that hard stiff cardboard stuff. Cut it to size, duoble sided tape it down to my platten, line up art to cardboard, line up pocket to that everytime and print away. It sucked if I needed to hit the ink twice though.

I have since broken down and bought a platten thingy specifically for pockets. Has a metal 'clip' on it that slides to the inside of the pocket. Can use mist spray on it so multi ink hits are no longer a concern.

I just re-read your post, yeah that is for on pocket. Although the first one works great on above pocket also. Just let your pocket be below the cardboard jig.

Action Engineering sell an "above the pocket" platen. It's basically a 6"x6" platen, nothing special. I've got one for printing lunch bags.

It will work a bit better than a sleeve platen would as you can actually have the shirt sitting over the pallet on the inside of the press, not wanting to fall of the pallet like it would when you have it hanging off the end of a sleeve pallet, but it might be too much of an investment for one job.

Here's a drawing of what I use to print above the pocket:

This is made out of a thin piece of plywood with lines drawn on it for centering the stencil and squaring it to the notch where the pocket will be placed. It's taped down onto the platen.
I pull the shirt down past the "notch" in the wood, then, holding the top corners of the pocket, pull the shirt into the notch, checking to make sure it's even left and right. Smooth the fabric laying above the pocket, and print.
