I have attempted to copy the tri-lok system on the cheap.
Funny thing is, it almost works.
Almost.
With the tri-lok, the solid stops and springs bring the frame in close contact. You only have to be off a few mm to really screw up your registration.
I can probably line up faster by eye and micros- especially with air screen clamps.
Only thing with the eye- it's gotta be able to see.
You can't see jack with ink in the mesh.
haha ...no doubt ...I tried to re register a job the other day with ink in the screens...couldnt do it...had to take the ink out and screen wash the 2 screens and start from scratch...what a pain in the a**
im trying to figure out a diy way to make my own reg blocks..since the one I purchased off a member didnt get sent to me after I paid for them...no names.......and still havent gotten a refund as of 3 weeks...
what a joke.Luckily I used paypal and they are investigating the issue.
Ridge, are you handy with a welder? If not, a good drill bit and the right sheet metal I think you could design one similar to what you have and not get as much play in the registration. Don't give up on it, even when we first got our regi system, we were off just by human error lining up the film so the system might not be as bad as you think.
I swear, sometimes I think we are long lost twins because everytime I read one of your threads I've done the exact same thing or had the same thought processes going through my head. Always trying to make the process better is a never ending task.
