Discuss the different types of equipment needed for screen printing. Topics include manual screen printing presses, automatic presses, dryers, folding machines, starter kits and high end machines.
Ask them if you can look through their liftgate support section (imagine you're needing a small one anyway). If they don't know what that is, then tell them it's used for trunks/windows. Oftentimes it's not out in the store, but most employees shouldn't have a problem with you going back to try and match. I worked auto retail for awhile at a Checker Auto (part of Checker, Schucks, Kragen and now O'reilly). We carried at around 20 different sizes at all times.
You might want to contact a company called Stabilus in Gastonia N.C. www.stabilus.com I don't think they can sell you a gas spring, but they are one of the largest manufactures of gas springs. They might be able to give you a part number that you can use, or the name of a company you can purchase one from. I worked as a temp at their factory once. They can do just about anything concerning gas springs. All of the gas springs have a number printed on them, that they might be able to cross reference, or possibly they can do it by application and mfg.. Be aware that using just any gas spring might result in serious problems or even injury. Gas springs are a highly engineered product, often made for some very specific applications.
