Default Dryer rebuild

I just bought a ranar style dryer, the smallest one, and am rebuilding it. I just put in new elements and a belt, however I need to know where I an get a temp control unit. It has a belt speed control unit but nothing to control the heat on the elements. Does anyone have any suggestion as what or where I might be able to find what I need?

Depending on the wattage of the unit, you can possibly put a rheostat (basically a big dimmer switch) in line with the elements. However, a rheostat that large may cost you big bucks. I know that Intex (the comp i bought my IR panel from) sells rheostats made for controlling flash dryers, but they are pricey.

What is pricey? Also is it easy to assemble and put in or does it require a lot of know how?

Pricey is around $200 were the ones I saw. You would need some basic electrical wiring skills. How many watts is your element and what is the voltage?

Brawlic,

Just wanted to comment, Ranar is a really great dryer. That is the namebrand of the first conveyor dryer I've ever used, that was almost 30 years ago, I believe it was their Red Star Dryer. Not sure if that one is still available, but the Co. is still in business, I believe in Los Angelas, CA still. I usually see them at the shows. You may want to call them, they might have the parts you seek.

Cheers,
Suz
