Well, I have been researching how to build my own exposure frame for a couple weeks. Last week I worked up some plans. (on a 1"=1' scale)
Earlier today, I put the plans to the test and built the exposure frame. Although, I didn't completely finish, it is very close. I still have to put in the light, the shelf for the light and the glass.
I put a lot (I mean a lot) of time into making these plans and I have decided to share these plans with the people on t-shirt forums. I have learned a ton of information from this site. So, I thought I would try to give back a little. ("take a penny-give a penny")
Keep in mind these plans are based on using a halogen work light and I haven't actually burned a screen with the results of these plans. So, the light distance may be in a bad location and need to be adjusted accordingly. BTW, the distance is roughly based on the "1.5 x the diagonal of your image" rule. Also, the plans are based on a standard sheet of glass from Home Depot (at least my home depot).
If you have any questions, let me know and I'll try to help. (but the plans are pretty detailed)
Remember, MEASURE TWICE, CUT ONCE... I'm not perfect.
I hope someone can use them and enjoys the result.
thats looks good....i need plans for a exposure unit with vacum system..as of right now I use my screen drying rack and 500 watt halogen to burn screens
Thanks. As for exposure time, I can't remember. It's been so long since I've used that setup. For some reason 16 mins stands out to me, but that doesn't mean anything. I suggest getting step guide and dialing it in with that.
Great plans. I'm about to build one myself in a day or so and looking at yours gives me some ideas. I was wondering though what made you go with the 2x4's instead of something like mdf to avoid having to build the frame. I have a metal halide light source and was planning on using mdf joined with pocket joints.
