I bought the Econo package from silkscreeningsupplies, and upgraded the press to a Riley Hopkins. So far..I am very happy with it.
Now what is your budget, because you may be able to buy something a lot better..

What type of printing do you want to do? I work with heat transfers so I bought a heat press to start with and some transfers from proworld, there are a lot of options for heat transfers depending on your budget.

try looking at Home Page for an affordable, accurate setup without all the frills. You will need to buy all your own consumables but he gives you sources for that too.

How much money did you want to spend?
Are you going to buy new or used
Do you know anything about Screen Pinting/Transfers/DTG/
What kind of printing are you going to do?
Who's your client base?
Where are you located?
Who's your competition?

There are a lot of starter packages out there, if you do a google search for screen printing package or screen printing kit you will find a lot of good resources, when you look at a starter package, look at what you are getting for supplies, look at the type of press you are getting, if its not a rotary press, forget it, manually placing a screen in the press each time you want to print a color, thats not too fun, I have done it. Also do a better business berue search on the company you buy from, make sure they know what they are talking about, after the sale support is very important because screen printing isn't rocket science, but you do run into questions you need answers to. Good luck as you get going!

what buisness is this equipment for ....a carwash?
I think you will need a little more than what this post says you will need.....

I purchased the semi pro package from ryonet....comes with a 4c 2s press all the chemicals you will need , 4 110 mesh screens , instructional dvd's , ink , r1900 epson printer with accurip , 100 8 1/2 x 14 waterproof films , 100 13 x 19 waterproof films and the customer support is 2nd to none.
this could be an option depending on you budget.

Default Re: WHat equipment would be good for starters?

to be honest....maybe i shouldnt have posted a reply like that...but i thought this forum was here to help people that ask questions....if someone is asking a question this usually means they dont know the answer..and with a reply like that ..it just leads to more questions.
also ..there is no way to start a screen printing buisness with a scrub brush and a power washer...what about screens , ink , film,,,,printer to print the films...ii mean there is a lot of things needed to start a screen printing buisness....

if someone is going to reply to a post ...at least try to answer the whole question..dont just throw a quick post with 1 sentence of jibberish...

1 thing that has been missed:

If you are going to produce your own stencils or reclaim screens(ie you are going to wash emulsion down the drain) you will need a filtration system as nasty chemicals such as emulsion are not permitted to be simply forgotton about.

In Australia, where I am, you will land yourself in court with a hefty fine if you do not abide by these environmental policies.

cheers

Actually most commercially available products are drain safe.
