Default Need Help Chosing a Printer for Film Positives

I am finding my crappy little 8x10 canon printer to be a hassle and waste of time trying to print larger images and am ready to buy a better printer.

I was looking at the blackmax system at ryonet and am considering buying it .. but need to know if its really worth it..

or should i just buy the epson 1400 and accurip seperate and buy some films... it would save me a couple hundred.. but i wouldnt have the 6 cartdrige black printing ..

does it make that much of a difference?

I want to eliminate taping parts of films together so this printer would certainly do it

Thanks!

Chris

or would it be better just to get the printer and the accurip then at somepoint get a refill kit and refill all the cartdriges with black ink..

I have a 1400 and use victoryfactory.com films with the stock Claria inks and it works great. Not sure what you are doing, but you may want to just try the stock setup before you drop the money on the Blackmax (which I believe Ryonet sells for the 1400 anyway) or Accurip.

I have the BlackMax with the Epson r1900 and Accurip from Ryonet...and I have to say..this printer prints the darkest positives I have seen.....I have not had to buy ink for it yet tho...and they can be pricey...where can I find a refil kit for this printer? do you know?

Inked

how many films do you think you've done?

my little canon seems to not last long at all ink wise.. and the ink is like 30 bux for black.. crazy expensive. for such a little amount of ink

I know th blackmax is like 150 for the cartdriges.. but if it lasts for 200+ films i'd prolly do it

after reading on the accurip site.. am I getting this right? really no mods are done to the printer at all.. its just stuffed with all black cartridges and using accurip?

so i can just buy the printer (200-250 bux new on ebay for the 1400) then drop 500 on the printer and 150 on the ink.. so for 950 i'm all set?

I looked on the workhorse web site and did not see the printer. Do you have a model number and a source to buy one??
