Default Homemade 50"x50" exposure unit

I'm in the process of building my first exposure unit. I'm making it 50"x50" w/ 10 bulbs, so I could expose multiple screens or oversized screens for all over printing.

It's practically done. I just need some advice for the glass to use. The dimensions of the glass I need would be 46"x49". I mainly need to know the thickness I should get. I see a lot of people using 1/4" thick but I don't know if I should go thicker because of the size or not.

Also, if anyone has an idea of the price range for a sheet of glass this size, please give me an idea. Lowe's an other hardware stores told me they can't do that size so I went to a local glass company and got quoted something like $140.

I have a 30 x 30 and use 1/4" glass and it works perfect. the shop down the street has a 24' x 50 with 1/8th inch glass and he has had it for over 20 years so 1/4th on a 50 x 50 should be fine.

You can also try a frame store or a Michaels for pricing.

How are you gonna transport that sucker to your shop?

That is about the going rate in my area. I had to replace two of my store front windows. (The city was paving the street and cracked them) The size of the glass was 53' x 49' and it cost me $132.72 for each piece.

Hopefully they'll offer some kind of delivery service since I'm buying locally. If not, I'll use my pickup truck and a whole bunch of pads.
