try emailing the manufacturer.
Also, look online. Good chance it could be there either at that company's site or google, etc.

I just bought one of these machines and did get a manual with it as well as a video. I might be able to scan manual and email you the scans. Contact me privately for info.

I know this is an old thread, but what's the experience with this system ?
There's one selling in the area, for less than $1K and I'd like to know what the users have to say about it.

thanks

Is THAT complicated that you need a manual ?
I'm seriously asking not joking about it.

I understand, but I'm not one to learn from my mistakes by breaking and having to replace a machine that, virtually, no longer exists...

Thanks though... I think

Default Re: universal-696 all in one

I gotta be honest, all I know about this screen printing thing is what I've read here and other forums, youtube videos and several other web based sources. I've done a couple of t-shirt orders only, with vinyl as my emulsion and some other heat pressed garments. I have plans to move back to my country in a year or so, over there everything is extremely expensive and something you won't even find available.

I was thinking on this 696 unit because of the small footprint (spaces is scarce there too) and as a backup unit. I plan on getting more "serious" equipment too, but if the 696 doesn't work for me I can always sell it for a big profit.

Those of you who own this kind of All-in-one systems ... do you also have "standard" equipment (press, exposure, etc) ? If you had the chance would you buy it again ?

Thanks for taking the time to read my rant

Well then, you and I are pretty much in the same boat I really have no knowledge other than threads and videos myself..so I really can't comment. I wanted this machine because it's sn all in one and thought I could practice until I was able to purchase more "serious" equipment myself...

So now I feel like I have accepted a "dare" I'll try it out and let you know...

I know that I cannot run a full blown business just relying on this machine, but for starters and to get you rolling I think is worth it. Buying used press, exposure unit and the rest of the stuff is gonna cost me way much more than what I can get this machine for. You see a lot of guys doing a lot of work with much more primitive equipment, and I'm sure lots of the guys here in the forums started with very limited equipment, then they moved on as they saw fit.

I owned one of these for a while. For under $1000 is a good price if you are getting some screens etc.

I beleieve Morantz bought out Universal. This is there site. Morantz Screen-A-Print you can go here to check out a tutorial ( i think its animated but it still will help)

The flash unit on it is really nice. Really not much need for a manual. Basically you:

Put the glass on top (leave the shirt platen in there for now)

Tape the film positive to the glass exactly where you want it

The shirt board has now served its purpose here so remove the glass and then remove the shirt board (DONT GORGET TO REMOVE IT)

Put the glass back on top exactly like you had it

In a light-safe room-

Get your newly emulsed screen ready and place it with the right side and bottom butted against the "walls"

Place something with a little weight to it over the entire image thats going to be burned.(this keeps light form getting between things and messing up the burn)

Turn the light on for apporximatly 5-7 minutes

Turn the light off.

Remove the screen and wash it out.

Tape any area you can see light coming through, including all around the edges inside the frame

Remove the glass and put the shirt platen back in place.

Use the knobs to adjust where the screen needs to be which is approx 1/8 inch from the screen.

Plug the heater in so it can heat up for 10-20 minutes

Put ink on the screen.

Put spray tack on the platen and slide a shirt on, wipe your hand across the shirt to make sure it is stuck down.

Place the screen butted up to the right and bottom

Now print the shirt

Turn the heater over the shirt for about 45 seconds to 1 1/2 minutes depending on how far away the heater is set above the shirt.

Finally, Pull the shirt off and enjoy your first print!

Sorry if I missed anything.

You guys can PM me anytime you have a question. I have helped out numerous people fom this board who have one of these.

Ok, I bought it and pick it up today
Never used something like this (or similar for that matter) just my homemade 1 color press with jiffy hinges.
Now I'm gonna have to get a VCR to be able to see the instructions LOL , it doesn't see complicated but if it can makes things easier I'll rather watching just in case. The printed manuals are very basic and poor to say the least. I'm gonna get some emulsion and plastisol tomorrow and see what I can do

Does anyone who owns one or have used one wants to share the emulsion use and exposure time for it ?
