Okay, here is the deal. We bought our Epson 1400 printer about the middle of last year. We installed accurip, and bought the blackmax ink system. This works great! BUT! We were unhappy of the INSANE cost of the cartridges, the printer says they are EMPTY but still contain TONS of ink. We go through it so fast with how many films we do. SO! We bought EMPTY REFILLABLE ARC, Auto Reset Cartrigdes. We filled them with all black ink, put them in, and the printer went BONKERS! It won't print anything, says they are nongenuine epson printers blah blah, we went back to the blackmax system and everything is fine again, except we are stuck with the high cost of having to pay $150.00 everymonth for new ink. Now I know they have chip resetters, and we have one, haven't tried it yet because we are waiting for one to go empty, but can you refill these blackmax cartridges if we get the resetter to work?? Can someone let us know, because they TOTALLY rob you on ink on these cartridges. There is almost half ink left and it says they are empty, and until you refill/reset, or replace with a new one it won't let you print, UGH HELP! Thanks guys!
Someone from this forum said that this ink worked good for them but i didn't try it yet. Can you just stick the ink in the old cartridge with a big syringe and then tape it up?

Im about to buy the 1400 BlackMax system. Is it easy to refill the ink?
Celtic... did you buy just the ink or did you buy the refilling kit? How do you refill your? I always used laser printers for normal printing. Now getting into screen printing I will use a inkjet for the first time so please excuse my lack of knowledge with refilling.
I got about 70 large prints out of the 6 black max cartridges. Although it is all relative to what the design looks like. (how much coverage on each film)

$2 per film.. just for ink.. and then the price of the film itself..
I previewed the BlackMaxx system for a company with the AccuRIP software before recommending it for over a month. After printing 13 x 18" films with an average 40 to 60% coverage I FINALLY bottomed out on 2 cartridges. I turned off those two before they stopped the printer completely and got a few more prints from them. I got 150, 160 films before having to replace the cartridges, that roughly made the ink cost per film a $1.00 per film.
I know screen printers in general (I am one) try to get the best price possible, some might even be considered tightwads but that's a whole other conversation. It may be faulty cartridges, have you called AccuRIP to tell them what's going on? They are some of the most customer friendly people I've ever met and will bend backwards to help you.
On the other hand if your trying to get something for nothing? they can't help you. I've installed over a dozen of these combos since it came out and this is the first complaint I've heard. The amount of ink your using (unless your printing big black squares is insane) and I don't blame you for being angry...might just be a faulty printer. You might try getting the seller to replace THAT particular printer at no charge.
I think the problem lies elsewhere, try getting a replacement, call the tech at AccuRIP. Check your resolution too, 1440 x 720 is the norm but I've gotten decent films running 720 x 720 with no detail. Good luck, it really is a good deal getting a great 13 x 18" positive for an average $2.50 (depending on your film supplier).
