Default Picking a silkscreen machine

Hello! I am about to start my first T Shirt biz out of our home and am just learning as much as I can. I am planning on buying the 4 color 2 station table top press from Silk Screening Supplies. With this press will I be able to create GOOD T's that will be competitive with companies that have been doing this longer? Or do I need to buy a standing press?Any and ALL suggestions are welcome.

Buy the best quality you can afford. If you grow at all you will not regret it, if you don't you can sell quick.

there are many on this forum that have purchased that press and have made it work, but as Mike said, they have out grown it quick.
not that you cant make aquality print on it, just if your time is important to you it might be frustrating.

If you are serious about doing this as a business I would buy at least a 6/4 press with micros.

If it is out of your price range right now it might be better to wait and save for the better press.

there are alot of things you can skimp on in screen printing, but the press is not one of them

Thanks for your reply. What about a 4/4 with micros? Is there a particular press you would recommend I look at?

well, in my opinion, a 4/4 is not worth it because for a small increase in price you can purchase a 6/4. the issue with the 4/4 is that you are limited in colors, and if printing on a dark garment with an underbase your color max is only 3.

It is very hard to be competitive with a color max of 3 or 4. A 6/4 allows five colors on a dark garment with an underbase, which is enough to be competitive.

for the money, a very good press is the Riley Hopkins Win series with joystick registration.
probebly the best press for the money.

if you can swing it, an awesome press is the Antec Legend, and M&R makes really nice equipment as well, the vastex 2000 series is also nice.

Micros are good . . . and 4/4 is ok if you can get a 6/4 would be better. . . and the type of press will depend on your startup. I have a Brown press 6/4 it does all that I need it to do . . .

What is the difference in your opinion between silkscreen and heat transfer?
And if money wasn't the problem, what 6 station silkscreen press station would you buy? or should I go with a 8 or 10 station?

if money was not an issue, for a manual press I would go with an 6 or 8 color Antec Legend.

Mike has offered good advise on having a machine you would be able to resell or trade up with.
Be patient and and don't jump into pressured sales.
Good Luck

Im looking into getting a silk screener for my T shirt biz, does anyone know where I can see videos, on how you get your images onto the screens? Heat press was not a good idea. Thanks!
