I am in the process of buying a screen printing press within the next 2 weeks. The problem is i am a beginner and dont know what to purchase. I have about 400 dollars and have been looking at the 4 color 1 station for about 369.00 on silkscreensupplies.com. Not sure if it is what i want and need. I am looking at making t-shirts for profit. I mostly want to stick to simple tees for the time being as far as Logos, Comapny shirts, and plain solid color prints . Reason i want a multi color is because i already have had ppl ask me for shirts requiring multi colors and i know i will jump into that category soon.
Can someone give good advice and maybe post link to where i can buy an affordable press .. I see ppl mentioning brands and what this and that will do. I know nothing about it.
well when i first started i got this package Semi-Pro Complete Screen Printing Setup
its not bad i used it and it was good. but ir ur planing on doing big jobs its gonna take some time to finish.
that type of money is out of my leauge. i understand it takes money to make money but right now i dont have that type of money to waste. plus i already have my inks exposure unit and flash gun cure'er. all i need now is a press....
I know this is more than you wanted to spend, but its really important that you dont skimp on your press, even the small ones, if you intend to take orders and do this for profit. I am nnot saying it cant be done with a cheap logos press, but it will take much more time to get quality prints.
There are places you can find cheaper used stuff like craigslist and www.digitsmith.com
if registration is not crucial with the designs you would be printing, than maybe...but its not something I personally would consider.
I beleive if you want to make artistic designs for fun, than a homemade press might be all you ever need, but to be competitive and make quality, registered, multi-colored prints, for profit, I would not suggest it.
what is your suggestion on making a homeade one...
I am actually planning on starting to make this press soon (have to wait till the weather improves). In my opinion, if you build the press exactly as they tell you to, you shouldnt have a problem with registration. Its probably good for a beginner
