I am going to buy a manual press and have found both micro registration and joystick registration.

Which is better?

Yes, joystick registration works fine. The only downside imho, is a non tool-free adjustment for the off-contact, but the Riley Hopkins presses c/ joystick registration are fine. I have a Riley Hopkins 6/4 c/ joystick.

Try to get a used high-quality press such as workhorse, vastex etc. if you can. If you purchase a cheap press, you'll never be able to sell it if you decide to upgrade or otherwise. If you purchase an expensive press, you can always sell it and raise some money to upgrade etc..

the riley hopkins Aero press has joystick as well as tool free adjustment of off contact.

the joystick reg works great. no complaints.

I've got a Riley Hopkins 8/4 with joystick and it works GREAT !
And I agree, you can't go wrong with a good press.

Also, yes, since my model isn't tool free, what I do is I got one of those ratcheting cresent wrenches for adjustments and it's fantastic!
Easy as pie!
