Inline Multi-Color Press I had this idea, and I want to see what the community thinks.
Many of my designs are multi-color, but usually no more than two. My setup is quite basic, as I print all orders on-demand. I have a 6' wide x 2.5' deep table, with a single color press. I'm a simple man, so I use water-based inks. I live in a narrow Philadelphia row home, so a four or six-color press is out of the question. I've tried.
My idea was to help improve my registration and two-color speed of printing. I wanted to attach a length of tube to the table that, using guides, would allow me to slide the platen down the line, from one screen to the next. A separate tube would allow me to add screens, and slide them down to an inline exposure unit. When not creating screens, the exposure unit can be moved, allowing for an additional screen.
Where my thought is running into trouble is what types of hinges, how to create "stops" for proper registration and in general, does this make any sense. Or, is this just the ramblings of a newbie with crazy ideas.
I toss this out to you, the t-shirt world. What do you think? Let me know if you need a visual of my idea. I'll gladly sketch it up.
Thanks
