Discuss the different types of equipment needed for screen printing. Topics include manual screen printing presses, automatic presses, dryers, folding machines, starter kits and high end machines.
I would like to see if someone with an Epson 1400 could perform a simple test for me.
What I'd like to be tested is to have you load the Epson Stylus 1280 driver for your 1400 and see how well it prints.
Looking in particular to see if the driver is compatible with the 1400 and print the same as the 1400 driver.
Why would I ask you to do such a thing?
Simple. I am under the assumption that it should print perfectly fine. So this will allow you to use the Epson StylusRip that supports the 1280, but not the 1400.
This will save considerable $$$ by using the Epson Rip with the 1280 driver instead of purchasing any of the other more expensive rip versions available.
Thanks,
Tracy

Re: Can someone with an Epson 1400 run a test for me?
I can give it a shot, I don't have the 1280 rip driver though, just the regular 1280 driver. If you send me a PM tomorrow just to remind me I'll try it out for you.
Re: Can someone with an Epson 1400 run a test for me?
Ok, so the test didn't work, so here is what I ended up doing.
I didn't want to spend good money on a rip for the 1400, so I did a bit of research and decided on an Epson 1280. I found a nice one on eBay that I just won the auction for $129. I then found the Epson StylusRIP that is compatible with the 1280 for $50 on eBay.
So now I have a very low cost rip powered inkjet.
Now I just need to get a CISS and I'll be set.
Cheers,
Tracy

Tracy,
Are you trying to do halftones? Before you spend any money I would make sure the Epson RIP can do halftones for you. My understanding is that the Epson RIP is for color management, not halftoning.

While you are correct that it does not have all of the halftoning controls of a more expensive RIP, it does the job of processing postscript files just like the expensive RIPs, so I use either In-Design or CorelDraw for output. They give me control of the dot. CorelDraw provides a much wider array of dot shapes to use than In-Design, but both allow me to control the lpi and screen angle.

OK, I just bought this CIS from eBay for less than $40 and it came filled with ink and free shipping. It works just like the OEM does and appears to be just as color accurate. I really don't see why you would want to pay any more from other companies that have been mentioned before.
The chip resets at 10% back to full, so it never runs out. Installation was a breeze.
