Default Econoflash T-Shirt Flash Heater repair question

I bought a t-shirt flash heater--the Econoflash from Ryonet--and it developed a problem--the ceramic washer was installed incorrectly and the wire leading to the heating block is halfway burned through on one of the two wires.

I think I can repair this but wanted to ask if anyone's had any success doing so and what gauge wire/technique you used to fix it.

I am thinking of soldering the connection (there's only a small gap--the wire is not burned all the way through) but if anyone else has done DIY flash heater repair I'd love to know what your own solution was.

Thoughts?
