Please Help!! I'm just getting started in the t-shirt business and have bought a vinyl cutter to make t-shirt designs. I want to add the swavorski hotfix crystals to my designs and tried using the heat press at 320 for 25 seconds. The shirts looked great however, when I put them in the wash, the rhinestones all came off? I have orders that need to go out ASAP! I applied the vinyl at 320 for 20 seconds, peeled when cool and then placed the rhinestones on top with a teflon sheet. What setting to use on heat press and how long????
Did you put the stones on top of the vinyl? I'm not sure that the glue used on the stones will stick to certain types of vinyl. I would imagine it's only for sticking to fabrics.
I have mixed vinyl and flock with rhinestones but when cutting the design in the vinyl i added small holes in the design where the stones were fixed ( basically they are set in the vinyl/flock directly onto the t-shirt). This works for small designs or just a few stones.
Cut the hole in the design exactly the same size as the stone, press the vinyl/flock then pop the stones in each 'hole' and press again.
This is the method used in a post i made with a butterfly, it was ' a new way to make a decoration'

Crystals won"t stick to vinyl so go into your graphic design program and make the holes before where you place them. Use your Corel Draw to make the holes
Yes crystals will not stick to vinyl, cutting the holes out is the only way, some times when you cut small holes with a cutter you need a 60 degree blade to do this, but also you can try a exacto knife,, put the blade vertical and turn it like you are drilling a hole, I have done this a lot,, but be carefull you could accidently cut yourself if you slip..... hope this helps,
A small hole punch will also do the trick, if you don't cut the holes as you are cutting the design. Try the ones you can get in a craft store that are typically used for making paper confetti. Some of the shaped ones are nice too. Once you weed your design, you can use the punch to make the holes where you will place the rhinestones. Place your vinyl design and press, and then place your stones and press (or you can do it all at once)
