Default got hit with customs charges when ordering from Canada

Their sooooooooo scammy

When my $76 package arrived, they tried to charge me an extra $41 in customs at my doorstep.
So of course I told Pro World to go take a hike and give me my refund.

BEWARE if your a Canadian you WILL be scammed by customs.
This company has no support for Canadian customers, they just want your money.

Also, so the total would have came to $120 JUST for 39 transfers
are u ****ing kidding me??

the reason you most likely got charged at customs is they didnt mark it as a gift. That is about the only time you dont pay customs taxes. Anything you buy from outside the canada is exceptable to custom taxes. Its a part of life. I am sure they didnt set out to scam you. Its not a companys intent to do so. Becareful bashing a company on the interent, it may come back at you full scale. That coment alone could make them lose business.

customs duty is part of doing global business. I wouldn't expect a company to ship a product to a client as a 'gift' to avoid those charges.
I'm wondering if companies can advise their client what the customs duty charge will be? I haven't dealt with customs duty in many years but i'm guessing it's factored on the value of the parcel and should be easily quoted.

I used to have a customer from Canada, but they quit using me when they were hit with customs charges. I thought NAFTA eliminated custom taxes between Mexico, US, and Canada?

Pretty sure the folks at Pro World would love to be able to service the Canadian market without having to deal with customs issues. Pro World didn't create the additional fee nor do they gain any bennefit from it.

I think you would have a major gripe if Pro World were selling transfers to your local competitors without the customs charges. Since I doubt this is happening it sounds as if the customs fees are simply part of the costs of doing business in your area.

If we import to the UK, we get sales tax plus customs duty and clearance fees and..and... don't blame the supplier, blame your government.

Pro Word has no control over Canadian customers.

Sounds like it's Canadian customs that wants your money, not Pro World. Pro World doesn't get any money from Canada when customs charges extra fees. All they get is an upset customer.

Please don't start bashing a company because of your country's customs issues.

I AGREE!!! I am from Canada too. You MUST know that ordering from outside of Canada to expect Customs charges. If you want to avoid this, best to order within Canada or places like CHINA...I never get charged when ordering from China and I have been ordering from there for years now.

I thought NAFTA eliminated all customs charges for transactions between Mexico, US, and Canada. Does NAFTA not apply to our industry or something?

I haven't read all the NAFTA documentation but it seems the term 'free trade agreement' is miss leading. it's very limited to specific items and i know t-shirts are in there but i'm guessing that transfer paper is not included in the items listed. Not all clothing items are under the free trade agreement either.

I ship to people in Canda quite often and the best way to ship is us mail declared a gift. They hardly ever get charged with custome fees. But these are just a items already made . If custom charges were made the only way I would know is if the buyer complained to me after the fact. The shipper has no knowledge of the fee nor do they benefit from it

NAFTA only applies if the care label says "Made In USA" or Mexico or Canada. Surprised to hear that goods coming from China don't get
taxed. They should, unless you delcare them as gifts or samples.

Under nafta if the item is manufactured in the U.S. you should not have to pay for customs duty.
You can ask the supplier to fax or email you the Nafta clearance form for the item showing that it was manufactured in North America which you can then fax to the customs office.
This is what I do from time to time.
keep in mind you will still have to pay brokerage fees but it will be less

This has nothing at all to do with Ed and ProWorld. Its who they deal with, UPS. Its not so much a customs charges as it is a brokerage charge.UPS has been doing this for years and its insane but you have to find places that deal with US postal service or FEDEX, I receive lots of packages delivered that way and it s included in the shipping charges. My shipping may be 5 dollars more expensive but no hidden brokerage fees.

I love ProWorlds services and selection but couldn t accept paying UPS inflated rates.

Ordered a set of vintage car mats for my old firebird. Guy told me he would ship us postal, they came UPS. Carmats? 100 bucks, brokerage fees from UPS 59 dollars. Refused them, he shipped them US postal, brokerage, 6 dollars plus GST.
