Question What is the best way for me to test a design?

Hello everyone.

"Just testing out a new design? Only order a couple of dozen".

Hello Everyone,

I read this at printmojo.com and am very new. I have never sent out my designs to print before because I usually print them myself (airbrush and silkscreen from home) but I would like to get some shirts professionally printed and begin pushing them just to see if the shirts will sell before jumping into large orders, website, ect.... Can anyone give me helpful advise on the most inexpensive way to bringing my designs to life? In other words how to get samples with my designs to see if they sell?

I also apologize If I posted this in the wrong place.

You could always order the minimum order quantity and see where that takes you. If you are dedicated enough to marketing and sales you shouldn't have a problem selling your stuff

I see it this way, If I am going to spend that much money I might as well order enough so I have the potential to make more money per shirt. As you know the more you order, the lower your price per piece becomes. I look to at least earn over 10 dollars per shirt. If the product doesnt sell so hot at first, maybe it will later. Even if it sits around and you continue to market you at least have the potential to make that money back and then some.

Is printmojo.com a good place to start? Are there other sites recommended that will help me get the ball rolling? (where I can make small orders of diferent disigns).

Thanks for your help!!

That really depends on your needs. Do you want to fulfill orders yourself, or do you want someone else to take care of that for you?

Do you care about the quality of the shirts (Silkscreening vs Direct to garment printing, vs transfers, etc.)?

For low quantity I suggest Plastisol transfers and have them pressed on the shirts you want, that way you can do small quantities. Just like screened but very professional.

That'd be fine if he wants to fulfill the orders himself.

Is Plasitisol something I should do at home Or do companies provide the service as well? Like I mentioned before I am very new at this. Is the quality of the screen as good as silkscreening?

I do to, at least to start off with. I want to show the product and use the shirts for promotion of the line. It would be good to find a company that could fulfill a small order that I can go back to and continue ordering from in larger amounts from if I am happy with the quality.

Thanks again!

If you want to fulfill the orders yourself I don't think PrintMojo would be right for you.

If you don't want to I think you should consider them.

If you post in the referrals area here, you can find lots of recommended t-shirt printers:

Keep in mind that "fulfillment" means that they handle the warehousing, customer service, shipping the product to your customer, processing the orders, setting up a website.

If you don't need all that stuff and you want to keep the printed t-shirts in your house/office so you can ship them out yourself via an online store you setup yourself, then you could find any t-shirt printer near you or online to print t-shirts and ship to you.
