Default Custom Printmojo Storefront

Hi everyone, I am new to the t-shirt business and my friends and I have just started up our new apparel store. We are currently using Printmojo for the entire fullfillment, print and store.

My question is, I am wanting to customize the storefront/shopping cart setup to go with our site once it is fully complete but I am wondering if I should use a different e-commerce setting like cube cart or something. I have heard many people using something different since there is only so much you may be able to change with the Printmojo scripting.

Also, if I was to use a different shopping cart to work with my website would I still be able to transfer the data back and forth from Printmojo, such as inventory, pricing and order information without having to use any other programs? I am new to the e-commerce side of things and am wondering what the best way to do it is. I want to get the store side of the site as close to my design as possible without messing any of the backend side of things up.

Any information or help is appreciated and I am sorry if this was asked and answered somewhere before.

Thanks,

Josh

It depends on what exactly you want customized. Several stores have done pretty extensive customization using the PrintMojo script. For example, check out: ilounge.com/store/

If you contact PrintMojo, you'll be able to get more answers about custom solutions.

If you are just trying to match an existing web design, you should be able to do that just fine with the mojo PHP script.

Thanks Rodney, the main concern I have is that if I create everything on my site with everything listed including the costs, can I do it without using the printmojo store and still be able to get the information sent to printmojo as if I was using their storefront... not sure if that makes any more sense or not..

There is just a real large difference in the way our site is looking than what the printmojo storefront setup is like. I want to make sure that I can get all transaction data over to printmojo.

I will contact them to see what they may suggest.

Did you take a look at the link I posted above? You can do a lot of customization using the printmojo php script. You can make it basically look exactly like your existing website.

I also wondering if someone may know the answer to another question.

In the checkout portion with Printmojo, how do I get it to go back to my website area instead of the printmojo storefront. I want it to allow the customer to get back to my site instead of shopping at the printmojo store.

I notice it seems there is no way of customizing the checkout area to make the colors and such at least match your site. Is there anything that can be done?

Any help on this would be great.

Well, I have another question regarding the scripting on the store for the custom php script. I hope you can help me, it seems like I am either not looking at this properly or am way overthinking how this script works....

I took the pm_layout, added it to my template, I have loaded both the mojostore.php and the pm_layout.html to the server. but what I get is just my template and inside it is the code from the pm_layout. There is nothing else there...

If I put the original pm_layout back without my template, I get the generic store front of the custom script..

What could I possibly be doing wrong here?? I am soo out of thoughts on this, I have tried all kinds of things with the script such as adding it into my template from the php script and vice versa.. It seems like it's getting to be a huge mess

Maybe someone could help and take a peek to see what I am doing wrong...

Please, anyone that could help I really really really would appreciate it

Thanks,
Josh

Was there ever an answer to this? I am considering PrintMojo, but if after purchase the customer is left on PM's store - then that is not a good thing. I would hope that after submitting payment, the customer would be sent to a "Thank You" page on my website.

Alternatively, maybe using the PrintMojo shopping cart is not for me. Similar to the original message up top - is this scenario possible...

1. I set up my own open source shopping cart (cubecart, zencart, oscommerce, etc.). If I go this route, will I have to get a SSL for my site? And what kind of annual cost does that involve? I'm kind of skeptical about this, I don't want to have the responsibility of having customer credit card information, etc. on file. I'd rather PayPal or another payment gateway handle this secure information, but I don't want them to be forwarded to another site. Ideally, they would remain on my site, but the secure info they enter would not be sent to me, it would be sent to the payment gateway (e.g. paypal).

2. At the end of each day, have order summaries auto-sent to PM or another fulfillment company. I don't want to warehouse, fill the orders, or handle customer service.

So basically, my question is - can I run the store but not have to handle the credit card data, and then just forward the fulfillment information to a company that will warehouse and ship the order, and provide customer service.

Jeremy,

I have not yet found a way to get the customer back to the original site with any type of scripting yet. I haven't had a good chance to really work on it but this week am going to get that extra time.

Rodney may be one that can give in a bit more insight on the rest of this.

Printmojo does fulfillment and handles all parts of the customer service side of the operations for my site but the questions you are asking are ones I had sort of tangled into at the beginning and haven't looked for the answers yet.

Hopefully someone can chime in with a bit more info for you....

Josh...

If you want to accept payments on your site, you would need a merchant account and PayPal and an SSL Certificate.

Usually with a merchant account, the credit card info doesn't go to you for processing, it happens automatically when the customer is checking out. When they put in their card on your secure server with SSL certificate, your bank contacts their bank to confirm that the funds are available for the purchase and the order gets approved.

Yes, you can do this with PrintMojo.

If you have a fulfillment company (like PrintMojo) handle the payment processing, then they would have to have a presence during checkout to prevent chargebacks from customers not knowing who the company name was on their credit card statement.

If you process your own credit cards (using a merchant account), then you have much more control over the checkout process since your company name would be on the customers cc bill.

What can I expect to pay for an SSL per year - are we talking $10/year or more like $1,000/year? A ballpark estimate would be helpful.

Good to hear - nice to know I won't be handling people's sensitive financial information.

This is key - I believe I do want to process sales to maintain full "customer ownership" throughout sales process to take advantage of upsell/cross sell opportunities. I am also not a big fan of customers being stranded on a non-Pimp University page when they complete a sale. You're insight here has helped me realize that my own shopping cart is likely the way I'll need to go to get the customer control I'm looking for.
