I dunno what to do about this issue i have whit my epson 1400. I got refillable cartridges and the head for cyan keeps on drying up time and time over again. I do a headclean and the nozzle pattern prints perfect again, then 4-5 hours later it does not print at all again.
I can't keep on do a head cleaning each time i print as it sucks ink like crazy. Could i empty the cartridges, fill it up whit warm water and do like 1 million head cleaning cycles whit the water flowing thru it. Would i risk messing something up? Im in a position where every penny is a major cost so i can't aford to mess it up or let it clogg up beyond fixing.
Just gone through a similar problem with a brand new 1400. Magenta was blocked, head cleaning didn't help, tried everything I could think of/find out but nothing shifted it. Luckily it was under warranty and Epson sent me a replacement.
Justin, the thing whit me is that if i do a headcleaning it do work, when i try it again 8 hours later it does not work so i do a headcleaning and it works again but i realy can not go on like this.
I had the same problem it was the program that epson sends with the printer I had to take it off and then put it on the computer and I have had no problems every since..

There is a neat software program called "Harvey Head Cleaner" available from Conde.com
You can set the time everyday for the program to run a print check. The program is inexpensive and works perfectly. I also have an Epson 1400. The printer works great and I have it set to test every morning at 10:00 am.
Seem as if i got it to work, as you indicated Mr.Davis it could be a software problem so i installed MIS autoprint (basically Harvey Headcleaner but freeware) and all 6 colors print just fine on the test pattern page i do from there. Thanks for the help.
Install the Epson carts that came with the printer. If the printer prints fine with the Epson carts, then the printer is ok..you will not need to flush the print head. You will need to replace the carts. Refillable carts are not that reliable. That is why we don't offer them.

It's like iv'e been put under an inkjet spell, always have had problems whit inkjet printers, hate em but there realy is no alternative that would work either.
