Default Looking for the best bang for my buck

I'm thinking about making my own heat transfers. However, I don't know anything about it or the equipment. I am interested in opinions on printers (Laser or inkjet?), ink etc. I am on a budget, but I want good equipment. I rather save and buy good, than to have to replace equipment. Any suggestions?

Thanks,

Kelly

Well for printers you can't go wrong with an Epson IMO. The Epson clearance section have a lot of great deals plus free shipping.

As for transfers I use JPSS for light garments and it is a forum favorite. I don't do heat transfers on dark garments as I like screen printig for that better so maybe some one will chime in with a few Dark transfer choices.

Oh and for heat presses. Proworld is a preferred vendor and has a few good deals on presses.

Thanks,

I did order my heat press from proworld, should receive it today. How difficult is screen printing?

I found it pretty easy to learn. It is so many techniques I would say it takes a while to become proficient at them all but basic stuff like one color is fairly easy.

Do you need a lot of space to screen print and is it messy? Most of what I'm going to do at this point is quotes and writing for the local schools. Sorry if I sound dumb, but what does IMO mean?

Thanks,

Kelly

(IMO) In my Opinion

I would have to say yes it can get messy and I tend to need a lot of room as I like my things organized.

I think heat transfers will be fine for what you are looking to do. In the future if you see your business expanding you can always add services.

Katrina,

Thanks so much for your thoughts. My brain is working overtime. There is a lot to think about and process.

Thanks again, I hope you don't mind if I pick your brain in the future.
