1). epson 1400 converted for pigment ink use vs. the epson r1900, whats the big difference??? 2). once the 1400 is converted to pigment ink use can it be switched back over to dye ink or preferrably sublimation ink??? and 3). when converting the 1400 over to pigment ink do you have to use a cis(bulk system) or can you use refillable ink cartriges???

1900 is a 7 color plus 1 GLOP printer.
1400 is a 6 color printer. You will see the gamut difference obviously.

Yes, you can change between different inksets, just make sure you purge all the inks out of channels.

check with InkRepublic.com for 1400 or R1900 Cis , bulk system. Their systems have very few issues and have been performing perfectly with their own dye and pigment inks and sawgrass sublimation inks.

when you say glop do you mean gloss? what does glop and gamut mean???

I have the R1900 and yes the 8th color is a clear gloss used for photo printing.

so, is the color gamut something like the cmyk, rgb color scheme thing i been hearing about? also i heard that the only difference between the epson 1400 converted over to pigment and the r1900 is the price of the r1900 and the additional two colors. i also heard that as far as the addiitional colors when printing t-shirts you wont even be able to tell the difference, so if this is true im wondering whats the big difference? looking forward to purchase my printer for t-shirt production. was really leaning toward the r1900, but now seriously considering the 1400....

The premium price of the R1900 is not only because of the G.O. and some extended color rendition.
The head of the R1900 is the same head you find in the professional 3800, 4800, 4880 and the corresponding plotters. It has double the nozzles of the 1400 and as a spare part, it costs as much as a 1400 printer.
It is much more a "tool" than a 1400 (that is also a great printer).
It is also much faster.
