Discuss the different brands, makes and models of printers used to print inkjet and laser heat transfers. Also includes information on the inks that can be used to make your own transfers.
I have read that this printer is great for sublimation, but I was wondering if anyone out there is using it for inkjet transfers? It seems as though many of the common issues with comparable epson printers would be minimized by using this "gel ink".
I have spoke with conde and the stated that they have used the gx7000 for inkjet transfers and the results were fine. I would love to hear if anyone here has any further experience with "gel ink" and the ricoh printers???
We have put the Ricoh 5050 and 7000 through its paces. We had the printers about 6 months before we offered them to the public. They both do a very good job. If you have a sales rep here, contact them. They should be able to send you samples.

I'm looking at getting a Ricoh GX7000 for heat transfers (non dye sublimation transfers) but want to find out if the OEM Ricoh gel inks will be up to the task.
I have seen in the Conde information relating to these printers that they can be used for regular heat transfers but I can only find references to to sublimation. so anyone that has been or is currently using the Ricoh gx7000 and OEM Ricoh gel carts your input would be fantastic!

Is there any new information about using the GX7000 for transfers? How is the Gel Ink holding up? I am using mine now for sublimation but with the concerns about Sawgrass killing the Ricohs could I convert back to OEM inks and use it for transfers?

I have tested an earlier version of the gelsprinter before, the G500, and made pigment transfers with it using Transjet.
The inks behave very much like Epson pigment inks do, they wash very well, the only downside, like Epson inks, is that they color shift when heat pressed slightly yellow. Otherwise they are fine. I don't know if the ink formulation has changed between now and then, but what I had worked.
