It uses pigmented ink. Buy the third party heat transfer pigmented ink and refillable cartridges. The OEM cartrdiges has very small amount of ink in them. A couple of clean cycles and it is practically empty.

It is best to get heat transfer pigmented ink that has been tested for heat transfer application. A lot of users experience color shift with OEM pigmented ink. Plus the OEM cartridges have very little ink in them. It is cheaper to buy the third party heat transfer pigmented ink and refillable cartdiges in the long run.
Injetcarts.us has a good selection of ink and cartridges for the majority of epson inkjet printers.

is the cis system good? i just want good transfer ink. and i want it to last me a good amount of prints also ..regular pigment ink should work but which one? with the original ink be good enough ?
If I were you I would chose separate printer and scanner.
I like the Epson Perfection Series of scanners.
And Regarding the ink, the refillable cartridges. At least you print a lot, then a CISS may be justified.
The HT ink is regular ink, except the yellow, which, sometimes shift to green when heat is applied. So that is the difference, yellow ink is the special one.
As Luis posted, injetcarts.us as a good selection of ink and good prices.
Good luck.
