Hello

reading through the treads it sounds like a lot of you are printing your own transfers

i was under the impression that in order to get good quality that it was best to get your designs put on transfer paper by a printing company

who's printing their own and what are you using?

Is there a big differance between the two? Whats best?

Long story shortt-shizzy screenprinting is better than transfer paper, it does not crack like many transfer paper will do and the life is alot longer if not permenant from screenprinting. If your starting off and have some designs for now id advise you to print onto the transfer paper for now press it yourself at home and test your audience see what they thing of your designs if all goes well take it further and start screenprinting to offer better results and quality and build your brand from there

Transfer paper has come along way in the
past few years, search the forum to get
alot more opions.
We do well with JPSS paper for our customers.

I have to agree with Russ. A properly done (and it's not hard to do) heat transfer will far outlast a screen print and will probably outlast the garment! On light colored items only tho' I usually find that plastisol screenprinted garments crack after repeated washings. A heat transfer fades a little at first, then just gets softer and softer. I used to screenprint with Unidye a number of years ago (water/solvent based). After just one wash, it had a beautifully soft hand. It too, would outlast the garment. -Neil

What's best is what's best for you. What are you trying to accomplish? Small quantities, large quantities, single color, multi colors?
