Default New Cis install on R1800, printing is terrible

hi,
Just installed my new CIS system with my Epson R1800.
Its from a pretty reputible supplier here in the UK and everything seams top quality.
However, the print quality is terrible! I think the heads are very blocked, I have run several head cleans and the test pattern on some colours is still not even 50% filled in.

Some of the colours in the CIS have already gone down around 10-15% altho these colours have not been printed out on paper, so where is all this ink going?

Now I havent used this printer even before the CIS install for probably a good 3 months, will this somehow of ruined the printer?

I dont think im going to be able to clean the heads well enough with the normal automatic cleans, is there some way to completly reniew/restore the print heads manually?

Also I have noticed that when the printer is printing, I can look down into the area where the cartridges usually sit (when printer is not in use) and see quite a heavy build up/stained area, is this the 'print head' that I would need to clean?

Thanks for any help
