Discuss the different brands, makes and models of printers used to print inkjet and laser heat transfers. Also includes information on the inks that can be used to make your own transfers.
Hi, i am new here to T-ShirtForums but i have been reading all of the wonderful information that you guys have been providing for quite some time. I have a major problem.
I recently bought all of the equipment to start making my own heat transfer t-shirts. Surprisingly, i got it right from the start and made about 25 successful shirts. The problem is with my epson ink cartridges. I finally replaced all of the cartridges due to the inks being low, but after i did my first print it was kind of faded. So i ran a test to clean the printer heads...after i did this one of my black inks was reading it was empty and the three color inks were half full. Clearly this cannot happen because of one print and cleaning the printer.
Has anyone had this problem before? I believe it has something to do with the intelligence chips...please help! Thanks
Could be a faulty cart, but, that said, I have gone thru a cart in one night trying to run maintenance and nozzle checks to eliminate a banding issue I was having. While the carts could be malfunctioning, my problem with Epson carts is that they can go pretty fast.
I wonder if you unplug the printer, and plug it back in, if it will try to reset the ink levels, in case they are 'off'. Like, reset the chip, so it'll read properly, if it is missing reading at all.
Maybe unplug the printer, remove the carts, plug it back in and re-sit the carts. That's all I can think of to do.
Hopefully someone else has had this exact problem and it was fixable. I have had this exact problem, and it was my ink just running out really fast. Good luck to you.
I'm with Kelly on this one. The only thing I can think of is to clean off the chips and turn off the printer. Unplug it and wait a few minutes. Then turn it back on. That can reset the printer which will cause the printer to read the cartridges correctly. If that doesn’t work, it’s the printer.
Ok, thank you, ill try that, printers and ink are not my friends right now.
Also, i just purchased a CIS system from inkjetcarts.us because i cannot stand these ink cartridges anymore. Has anyone bought from them? Are these really hard to install? Thanks in advance.
I 'plan' to buy my refill carts from them, based on all the great things I have heard here about their ink, and because of the great customer service I hear Ross gives. There are other great suppliers out there, but you already picked inkjetcarts.us and I know that is who I've selected as well, based on what I've read.
Um, I do hear folks can have some troubles getting their CIS set up - not everyone, but some do. I also hear that Ross will see you thru it. Don't go it alone if you have troubles, give Ross a call. That is part of why I've selected them. I hear the support is great. Others here have installed them as well, and there are some great threads with tips and help in them. Plus, folks can help out since they've been there.
Some folks have a harder time than others, of course, because we are all different, but I've not seen anyone "not" get them finished installing - between the help that they get here, and the help Ross gave them.
I'm sure you'll be another success story, just like the others, and just like I will be one day, when I finally order my carts! Good luck to you.
Hi Logan, I've decided to go with the refillable carts from inkjetcarts.us because of clogging with the ciss unit due to unuse. I don't print everyday. Just a thought
Hello Logan I have a c120 printer and I had that some problem with the black ink. I had just brought it and one did the some thing. I just took the ink back to the store and told the saleperson what happen and they gave me another one and I have not had any more problem after that, so something it is a bad cartidge. I have tried to us other brand of inks other than the espon ink to save cost and the ink did not work as well as the espon ink, that is for this printer, so you might want to stay with the espon ink. I''ve always had good look with MIS Pro ink from inksupply.com, but that's the only supplier I've used really, so I can't vouch for others. I've not tried the "heat transfer" inks that they sell, but it the MIS Pro inks seem to do well in transfer. Better than this oki laser printer that I just bought, which seems to completely suck so far. Stick with inkjet, no matter what anyone says. Get yourself that program that makes your epson print something each morning, and you'll not need to worry about clogged heads. If anyone tries to tell you "switch to laser, they are less maintenance", tell them you've seen how much office depot charges for "laser printer cleaner".
