Default Epson 1400 and little Tire Tracks

The last few times when I have been printing transfers on my Epson 1400 it appears I have little tire tracks on the designs.

Cleaning doesn't work!

It's like the ink is getting on the little rollers and making it print on the paper.

Maybe the ink is not drying in time and catching on the wheels?

Does any one have any info or can help me.

I need help desperately.

We've had this happen before...what we do is run something like cardstock (or something thick like that) through the printer and that will normally clean off the rollers because it is a thicker material. Hope this helps

Did card stock and regular paper and doesnt do it with these. Then I tried more transfer paper and did it again.

I am figuring that the ink is not setting by the time it hits rollers.

Very Strange!

Haven't changed inks or paper.

Still using good old dye ink.

No kidding...how weird. I'm pretty sure the ink is dropped onto the paper after the rollers...so i can't think of anything else to cause this. I would have to look into this a little further.

What transfer paper are you using? Also, have you tried pressing any of the transfers with the lines? Sometimes those things don't press, really weird, I know. I would imagine it's just some setting you are using. What mode and quality are you printing at?

Clay I tried different modes. It's the black ink doing it.

The ink gets sprayed first then goes through silver rollers, like little saw blades and this is what is doing it.

I am using Ironall paper.

What about any results from pressing?? Have you tried pressing some of those sheets with lines on it yet?

Haven't tried pressing but sure the ink will show up. Too much not to.

The black ink is not drying pretty heavy in the artwork.

Clay I tinted the artwork to 90% and used the purple line paper and no tracks. I guess the black had too much ink. Tonight I will print a few with tracks and see how they come out.

I'm not real sure what Purple line paper is, but i hope it works for you. I have heard something like this in the past where epson printers and that specific paper leaves track marks down the page. Once pressed, they go away. Go ahead and try and press one of your other sheets, just to see what happens.

If you like I can get you some samples of other paper if you aren't able to find something that works.

good to hear. i had a little suspicion it was the paper. it makes no sense and i can't explain it, but we have come across that problem in the past. let me know how your pressing comes out
