Default Ricoh GX7000 Printer Ink Head

I'm considering purchasing a Ricoh GX7000 printer. I understand that it can be used for sublimation & heat transfers using the appropriate gel inks.

I'm assuming the printer has only one print head and it must be cleaned when using the different inks. Is there much ink contamination affecting the quality of relative paper prints?

Default Re: Ricoh GX7000 Printer Ink Head

This printer is only a 4-channel printer, so in order to switch from one ink set to another... you will have to use a flushing / cleaning fluid to remove the existing ink and then reprime the lines with a new ink. Due to the thickness of the ink lines, the length of the ink lines and the small reservior of ink in the print head... you will be wasting a lot of ink. Because of the price of the sublimation ink, I would recommend just buying a second printer and run two different setups - whether running both Ricoh printers or an Epson for the heat transfer.
