Default R1800 issue

Hey Gang, I have a question , My Epson R1800 print head was clogged and ran solvent( per Conde tech support) through the heads. Now, the printer functions but it doesn't put down any ink. It "prints" a nice clean sheet of paper. It goes thriough the motons but no ink. Whats up , any suggestions ?

Mike,

Do you know the exact name of fluid that you used? Also, what steps did you do?

I only ask these questions because you used the word "solvent" above. If you truly did use a solvent-based cleaning fluid, they the print head is probably done. However, there are many different types of cleaning fluid - but you want a waterbased cleaning fluid for an 1800. I am sure if you got it from Conde, then it would be the correct fluid.

As for why it is not printing, one of the reasons this has happen with dtg printers is the person goes crazy cleaning the capping station and actually gets the ribbon cable that connects to the print head wet. This is why I asked what exactly you do with the fluid.

This information might help us narrow down the potential solutions to your problem. Hope you figure it out. Best wishes,

Mark

Thanks for your response Mark ,
The fluid Conde recommended was simple green and all purpose cleaner I was directed to use a 10cc syringe and flush out the "ports" after removing the cartridges.

Simply Green is perfectly fine with that printer. The word solvent through me off.

Where are the ports located that you are talking about? Not sure if you are talking about the areas that the cartridges go into that connects with the print head or if you are talking about the capping station which is below the print head. The ribbon cable I mentioned is located on the right side of the print head. If you got the connectors wet, that could be the problem. You might want to check the ribbon cable to see if there is any burn marks by the connectors.

The Tech Support team at Conde is very good. I would call them in the morning and see if they have other suggestions. Best wishes,

Mark
