Does anyone know where i can buy a printer (cheap) that has capabilities of oversized printing? I'm not exactly sure what size i need but at least something larger than 8.5 x 11.
I picked up the Epson 1400 for $143 from Epson.com. It's a refurb, but most of my printers are, and I have no troubles with them at all. The Epson 1400 only dipped that low in price for a little while, but I saw it recently for $179. Sometimes googling the printer you want also yields good results on sales.
If you are looking at Epson's, I like their site. You can look at all the specs on the models the offer, and sort by large format as well. Their specs are easy to read and well organized. Good luck to you. =)
I think all the Epson's go thru ink like crazy. =)
I haven't printed with the 1400 yet. I do expect it to go thru ink as the other 3 Epson's I am running do run dry quickly.
My solution will be "re-fill carts". Some folks use those, others go with "bulk ink"/continuous ink systems ("cis").
Some suppliers are inkjetcarts.us, inkjetfly.com and shopdyesub.com. There are other suppliers as well, I just see these names mentioned often. A search on any of the terms I've put in quotes will yield threads with more info for you.
Also search "1400" with the following add ons:
inkjetcart.us
inkjetfly
claria
CIS
Re-fill cart
Ok thanks! One more quick question before I make my decision. Can the Epson 1400 print regular documents as well? I ask this because my old printer is no longer working and ill need the printer to print out word documents for school as well as transparencies for screen printing. Thanks in advance!
I can't speak on printing the screen printing transparencies (I don't screen), but I can say the printer will print documents, too. One of the reasons I plan to get the re-fill carts is so that I can print docs and not worry about the cost of ink.
I also plan to print photographs on the 1400. I'm sure someone over in screen print will have the answer on the 1400 and transparencies. Maybe a search on "1400 transparency" will bring the info around.
