Jamie,
I would figure out how to do a KK3 cleaning from the main panel. The Epson Manual should tell you how to do these steps from the control panel on the printer. Here is a post on how much ink you will use for the different cleanings - Inkjet Garment Printing - Screen Printing University • View topic - How much ink do the special cleaning cycles use?. Otherwise, you can get a hold of the Epson Adjustment Wizard for your printer, you can do an ink charge. I believe that this is going to be the same as an initial fill mentioned in that post, but that uses a lot of ink.
You could also PM one of the Flexi-Jet users as they do this type of cleaning all the time.

Cleaning fluid comes in a cartridge, exactly as ink, you replace the cartridges and do a couple of initial fills to wash the pipes. It's probably a good idea to change the dampers (bits on top of the heads) and it certainly helps to pray a lot. Expect some suboptimal prints at first because you never get all the ink out. NEVER mix inks, why anyone would use Fastinks when Epson inks work so well is beyond me.

dave, some get by with film from the copy shack(kinkos) i know i have a stack. now that i print water base/discharge i have to super expose the screens to make sure they don't break down during runs. the fast ink works better than epson. it's like i've said before, make yourself a pair of sunglasses with epson film. i'll make a pair with fast ink. i'll hit the shutter on the 6k violux and we'll who blinks first. fastrip, fastink and waterproof fastpositive make the best inkjet films, period. it's ok to purge fastink with epson and they don't do much mixing in the tiny tubing. like i said jamie, it takes about 13 cleanings. the ink change over happens very quickly, in half a page or so. this change over is very costly. i leave my 4800 film only. stan
Re: Epson 4800 How do I clean out FastInks so I can use it as a reg printer
The benefit that FastInk / MultINK / (it is a private label ink sold by many companies in this industry) ... is that the black ink has UV inhibitors in it. So Stanely is correct when you compare the two inks on the same film positive media.
The general rule is that you want to run cleaning fluid between switching different brands of inks out. In some cases (i.e. seen it a couple of times when replacing ChromaBlast ink with ArTainium inks), the remaining particles in the ink lines / dampers / head that Dave mentioned can coagulate together and lead to clogs. This does not happen with all inks and I have personally seen someone switch between the film positive ink to Epson ink to print giclee banners. This person only was switching one channel of ink because the RIP only required the black film positive ink in just one channel. Thus it made it more cost effective to switch out just one channel.
Not sure whether Kinkos is running genuine Epson OEM ink though. I would think as large as they are and being owned by FedEx, they would be able to ship in some aftermarket ink. The key is to find a good ink and film positive media that works for your shop. Some people find that one brand does not work for them, but another one does. My only advice would be to stay away from the new Epson film. It is not that great.
Hope this helps. Good luck with cleaning your printer.

if you look at fast ink films you'll notice they use a percentage of magenta to make a film that is like a dark black stencil but with a rubylith uv filter. best of both worlds and you can leave them in the rain.
Re: Epson 4800 How do I clean out FastInks so I can use it as a reg printer
Here is the best way to change out inks:
1. Raise the ink levers, remove ink carts and turn off the printer ( DO NOT LOWER INK LEVERS.) This will purge all remaining ink from the lines.
2. SUGGESTED: Install cleaning carts after going through the installation procedure of the loading cleaning carts....do a power cleaning. Once the power cleaning has been completed....make sure you get a good nozzle check.....the nozzle check maybe hard to see ...the cleaning solution is lite pink in color.
3. Raise the ink levers again, remove cleaning carts and turn printer off. DO NOT LOWER INK LEVERS....printer will purge the lines of the cleaning solution.
4. Turn printer ON and install the new ink carts. Stay with printer and go through the loading procedure.
5. When printer says "READY"...do a nozzle check. When you have a perfect nozzle check you should be good to go.
