Default Air compressor

Does anyone know the best/ most economical air compressor for us to use for our Hotronix Air Swinger-We just sold our 33 gallon craftsman - it was way to noisy and big. Any ideas.

Thanks in advance.

I dont know what you need, but there are alot of smaller comp. available...usually noisy machines tho' If you were to explore a good site for airbrush artists they are usually talking about small quiet comps.,
Terry hill has a line that are quiet..but pricey.
Maybe get a small one with a longer hose so you can put it in the back of the shop or a broom closet to alienate you from the annoying sound of compressors.
moisture traps are a must have for any compressor.
Good Luck

What you need is at least a 60 - 80 gallon, 2 stage compressor that will handle continuous service. A 2 stage will run much quieter and will have a higher storage pressure at a lower temperature, a single stage will also work in your situation as the demand is not as high as in an industrial setting. Also, most consumer/contractor grade compressors are only rated for 25% service, this means only being used 15 seconds out of every minute they are actually being used. A continuous service compressor is built for just that, continuous service/use. An industrial grade compressor will run a bit more but will probably never need to be replaced. Here are a couple of ideas for you.

Hope this helps some, Bob K.

The Hotronix with its' air bag use a little more air volume than the Hix presses we have but depending on your use there are a few other options as well.

when we do mall kiosks etc. that will not allow a compressor, we use a CO2 bottle just like used in carbonated beverage fountains. The regulator needs a little tweaking to restrict the flow but it is a relatively inexpensive alternative to a compressor. With two Hix N-840 presses running in a very busy flea market, we would get close to a month (8 weekend days) of operation on a $15 refill printing hundreds of shirts in an eight hour day. With this setup there is absolutely no noise other than the pressure release when the press opens and with the Hix presses we ran a piece of tubing from the press below the counter and put the brass muffler below the counter. You could barely hear it and we never, in over ten years, had a problem with mall and flea market managers about the noise. And, if it works out for your location you could use a large industrial sized CO2 bottle that would last a long long time between refils.

Here in the shop we run a modest size craftsman compressor on a 30 gallon tank and it only cycles on maybe once an hour running multiple presses.
